I misinterpreted the Windows 10 initial notification. Step 2 said the update file was already successfully downloaded before I started Step 3 install the update. I have no idea what caused the long delay but after closing the window three times and restarting my PC this time the wait was only less than a minute and after having the system reboot the install proceeded like a normal « update » for things like a security update. Please let me know if you know how to re-enable Windows Update. My Windows 10 experience has been a computer nightmare which has gone on for months now. I’ve been using IBM computers since the s and I’ve never had this much trouble thought the edition of Windows was nothing to crow about. In the past three days I no longer had to reboot my desktop computer at least twice to get it to become stable.
Let’s call it an antifreeze approach. I thought my troubles were behind me due to some update that happened that I wasn’t aware of.
I could only say to myself — finally they have fixed those terrible freeze-up issues. Not so fast! Now the download speeds are miserable. The speed test results are normal but the bottle neck has to be somewhere else. I’ve made System Mechanic and Dell aware of my issue. Unless I pay MS, I can’t talk to anyone about this persistent problem and I don’t feel like paying MS who I believe created the problem in the first place.
If my computer doesn’t have a virus issue then I will have to conclude that the problem is with Windows Dell says my BIOS is up to date. System Mechanic is up to date. If I had to choose between the freezing and slow download speeds, I think I would choose the freezing because you could reboot a couple of times to fix it. With the download problem, what do you do? Here’s what I will do in the future — buy an Apple computer. And I will never return to the Windows water torture ever again.
